What is an Associate or Bachelor's Degree and what is required to earn an Associate of Arts (AA) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree?
An associate or bachelor of arts degree is a type of undergraduate degree requiring a minimum of 60 semester credits for an Associate or 110 credits for a Bachelor degree. The traditional degree program consists of two parts: general education requirements (core studies) and major study requirements. Degrees that are awarded indicate that you have completed a program of study with a broad base in general education and a concentration in a specific area.
All General Education courses award 3 credits each - unless otherwise stated, and are included in each degree program's tuition. General education courses are self study courses supervised by an instructor with tests given on a unit/chapter basis. All courses require textbook reading and occasional homework. General Education courses must be completed by the graduation due date.
